There are many elements to consider when decorating a home. These decorative elements can be added to any home room to make it look more cohesive. One of these elements is an accent wall.
We think of accent or feature walls when we hear the term focal wall. However, it can be done in many different ways. It can also be done in one day since only one wall exists.
An Accent Wall can make a room stand out.
An accent wall can also be used to test paint colors you do not want to use in the entire room. This creates an accent wall that becomes the focal point of the room.
Accent Walls are still in fashion.
Accent walls are a vital part of decorating. Accent walls are timeless. It is all about what you put on them. While wallpaper patterns and colors are constantly changing, the classic decorating element of accentuating a wall to create a focal point is timeless.
- It doesn’t necessarily have to be the focal wall of your room. An accent wall can be the backsplash in your kitchen or the backdrop for open book shelves in a powderroom.
- Accent walls do not have to be bold colors. An accent wall can be a subtle color or texture change that brings the room together in a pleasing way.
- The appearance and feel of a room can be affected by the wallpaper, or the horizontal or vertical paneling on a wall.
A focal point is a wall or an area that makes the room look more decorated.
As I did in the foyer photo, an allover template can be used to create an accent wallanywhere within your home.
Are there walls in your home that could be used as accent walls? You most likely do.
What are my plans for an accent wall?
I have been refinishing the hardwood floors in my living and kitchen rooms. I’m thinking of creating an accent wall to the window wall behind the kitchen table. It is the far wall of this image. It looks exactly the same from this point.
You can clearly see that the wall is covered in white textured wallpaper. This wallpaper can be seen from the kitchen but not the living room.
Because of the two stops – the corner and the kitchen cabinets on the one side- the wall is ideal for adding color. The chalkboard accent wall is already in my room. I can make the wall stand out with texture.
An Accent Wall: Where can it be placed?
What about your home? Is there a wall that could be used as an accent wall? You can find wall space in all rooms of your home, big and small.
Imagine how it might look painted in your favorite color, with wallpaper or fabric coveredin an attractive pattern, or even with an interior wall slat wall.
